About HCC

Highworth Community Cinema

Is an independent voluntary group, run by local residents on a “not-for-profit” basis, which aims to bring world-class films to Highworth in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and at a modest cost.

Our varied programme ranges from mainstream feature films, to international world cinema award winners, to perennial classics.



We show our films at St Michael’s Hall using DVD equipment - a tradition which dates back to January 2006, when, under the umbrella of Swindon Film Society we opened our very first season with Whale Rider.


HCC became a separate independent organisation in 2011.


In 2013 we were the proud recipients of a grant from the Cooperative Community Fund which enabled us to install a permanent screen in the hall, and upgrade our sound equipment.

Our programme is chosen and managed by a small group of enthusiasts who are elected by audience members at our Annual General Meeting, which takes place in October.
